Evolving from the former Sociobehavioural Cancer Research Network (SCRN) Team in Tobacco Control, the Population Interventions for Chronic Disease Prevention Team is widening its research to study other risk factors for chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and in particular, cancer. Using knowledge gained in the fields of tobacco control and cancer prevention, the Team is aiming to better understand human behaviour around risk factors and find out ways to reduce tobacco use, increase physical activity and promote healthy eating among Canadians. The team also studies ways to move knowledge effectively from researchers and academic journals to people working in the areas of public health and policy to produce results.
